Founder of Fruit of the Spirit Nutrition and Wellness, LLC

RD, LDN, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor

Thanks for taking the time to visit our site, to read about who we are, what we do, and to learn more about us!

I founded Fruit of the Spirit Nutrition and Wellness, LLC in 2008. On a leap of faith, I opened a small office in downtown Concord, NC. My vision was to provide nutrition counseling in a private practice setting, where I could commit my time to listening and understanding the full picture of each client’s nutrition and wellness needs. Here I could help my clients achieve their goals by empowering them with their own tools for change and motivation.

As the practice grew I started conducting Nutrition & Wellness Seminars throughout the community which led me to corporate wellness.

I now have extensive experience providing wellness services within the Motorsports Industry. I am well versed in the health challenges found here, and I admire the tenacity of the people I meet to be well and stay well.

Public Speaking engagements became the center of my career, and over time I delivered hundreds of talks to audiences large and small. I was excited to be able to reach so many people with the message of how nutrition impacts our health, and to deliver credible information and debunk all the myths we so frequently hear. Speaking to people with respect and humor while sparing them a lecture of food rules makes for a fun room and a good day at work.

I have many clients who struggle with weight loss and rebound weight gain by tackling unrealistically structured diets. In 2013 I became a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor with a new approach to health and weight management. I now guide clients to recognize their own  cues for hunger and fullness, coupled with the understanding of why and what we choose to eat.

As an Intuitive Eating Counselor I also work with disordered eating, helping clients come to peace with food.

I have over 20 years of experience working in Nutrition. While working in Public Health I served on State Committees to advocate for better policies to support families, moms and their children. I also worked on grant funded programs to promote the importance of plant based foods for cancer prevention. I was able to take people on grocery store tours to learn about fruits and vegetables, and promote  good messages to the community. I became a Certified Lactation Consultant somewhere along the way, and I enjoyed the rewards of working with new moms and babies as well.

Holistic Wellness could solve many modern day health problems without modern day methods. There is definitely a balance we have to find in order to integrate ancient methods with the technology of modern society.

A Personal Note:
I am a mom of 3 bright and challenging children, with a busy household. I am also a caregiver to an elderly parent, and I understand the challenges and rewards this brings. I know how easy it can be to sacrifice your own health in the interest of others’ well-being and fulfilling life’s many responsibilities. I frequent the reverent mountains of Western North Carolina and it is here where I take restorative time for myself and find a sense of calm among nature. I love to travel, to swim for exercise, and I also enjoy good books and music.
I am an entrepreneur at heart, and a lifelong learner. Finding balance within my own life is a challenge, and I am always working on ways to better my own well-being. Life experience comes into my work, and I am realistic, practical, and down to earth. I don’t judge people or tell them what to do. I offer expert advice only when asked or with permission. I am careful to respect everyone’s different backgrounds and circumstances.
